Same battery in the FRSky Taranis Plus. Not required, though excellent backup for a long day of flying!
Leads/wires are of a lighter/different quality than the one I received with the Taranis radio; I don't believe this will be an issue but there is clearly a difference.

NiMH vs LIPO

I like NiMH for radio transmitters. Compared to LIPO's, NiMH poses less risk if overcharged by forgetting the charger plugged in. I plan to just top up and fly most of the time. It would be beneficial if the battery came with a datasheet to know the charge/discharge limits when performing a forming charge or other battery maintenance.
